For our project we attempted to colonize Mars. To do this we designed modular and strong bio domes that serve as what ever is needed and are easily constructed on Mars removing the need for extra space on the ships as all the materials will be in their most condensed form. We would use a combination of 3 different power sources: Atomic, Solar and Bio energy, not only removing the need to store and deal with waste but also allowing the production of plenty of energy for our new colony. The purpose of this colony will primarily be for research and development of new technologies as well as an experiment showing the plausibility of longer term colonization on other planets.
However I do not believe this will be possible anytime soon, as we do not yet posses the ability to travel such distances nor do we have enough information and technology for this to be possible yet.
From what I have researched the only future NASA missions that have been announced so far are all satellites and space-stations no plans to travel to other planets or even back to the moon yet. However with the resurgence of interest in space travel by the private sector it may not be long till said missions are announced, however it may not be from NASA but a private company.
NASA has shown no interest in colonizing other planets so far, however that could just be under wraps but it is far more likely that they don't have any plans to do so..... yet

The Sun: A Radiant Beauty
For this quarter presentation in my Earth and Space class, my group is presenting on the Sun. More specifically about Solar Flares, Sun Spots, The Solar Cycle and how these different things impact the earth and everything living on it. It is my hope that we can clear up any misconceptions or ambiguities surrounding these subjects and to not only do that but to also explain the need for constant human research and predictions that are associated with these events and that of the solar cycle. In doing so we will explain the consequences of neglecting said events and the potentially catastrophic impact it can cause on civilization and on all life on earth.
